Greetings

I'm Mr. Campopiano, or "Mr. C" as many students, parents and teachers sometimes refer to me, and I am a School Social Worker assigned to the district's four elementary schools and the district ALP (Alternative Learning Program) in Chariho.  People will occasionally ask me about the nature of my work as a school social worker.   According to the goals set by my profession and other regulatory organizations, the simple answer is to provide guidance and support services to the social and emotional needs of our young learners and their families.  I am out and about daily in classrooms, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and just about everywhere you find students during the course of a busy school day.  I thoroughly enjoy spending time listening and interacting with them all, and being a positive support for them throughout their day wherever and whenever possible.

One of my passions is reading and engaging young students in dialogue, and guiding them in school/classroom based read aloud group activities. Students and teachers are sometimes overheard saying or reminding each other to, "P.G.M.," i.e., (Practice Good  Manners), an acronym which I share with our young learners via weekly classroom readings throughout their first grade year.    In addition, as a resource to family and community members, I feel privileged and honored in providing consultation on a wide array of school and family life skill topics.

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Our daily lives can be and often are very hectic and stressful.  Many times we find ourselves racing through the day going from one activity to the next without stopping to reflect on the importance of the roles that  each and every one plays.  Before you know it our children grow up and we find ourselves wondering where the time went.  I want to encourage everyone to take some time to drop in and visit with us.  You'll be glad you did!
